What is NEBOSH IGC?
NEBOSH IGC (International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety) is a UK-based safety qualification that has become a standard requirement for senior safety roles across India, the Gulf, and internationally. It is run by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, based in the UK.
The qualification has two units. IG1 covers health and safety management — how organisations plan, implement, and review safety systems. IG2 is a practical risk assessment, which you conduct and submit based on a real or scenario workplace. There is no traditional written exam for IG2. IG1 uses an open book exam format where you answer questions based on a scenario provided by NEBOSH.
It takes most candidates 3 to 4 months of part-time study. Some people finish faster with intensive study; others take 6 months while working full time. NEBOSH sets the examination schedule — you book your IG1 exam through your approved centre on the dates NEBOSH publishes.

Is there a NEBOSH approved centre in Patna?

NEBOSH IGC syllabus overview

IG2 — Risk Assessment in Practice requires you to identify hazards in a real or provided workplace, assess the level of risk, and recommend controls. Most candidates complete IG2 in their own workplace, which is both convenient and practically useful.

In India, NEBOSH IGC holders typically move into Senior Safety Officer, HSE Officer, or Safety Manager roles at ₹8–14 LPA, depending on years of experience and the employing sector.
